Crossing the Arctic Circle Southbound

The ritual for crossing is to swallow a spoonful of cod liver oil. I did it.
As a reward the pilot whales pranced around the ship.

Highlight: Trollfjord

Ours was the first boat to enter Trollfjord in the Lofoten Islands. Until today avalanche danger was too great.
Afterwards I had a chance to walk around Svolvaer, also in Lofoten.

Hammerfest to Oksfjorde

It's snowing and the Hammefest is a little dreary.
Back at sea, heading south, we encounter this.
When we dock at Oksfjorde, we have this.
It's only 4:30 p.m. so there will be many more mountains to come before the day is done.

City to Mountains

Morning walk in Murray Hill, Manhattan.

Afternoon hike at Mohonk Mountain House.
